Illustrated book, loose as issued, poem of Jean-Michel Reynard, illustrated with 5 original etchings, by Pierre Alechinsky, including one in frontispiece signed in pencil by the artist. Here one of the first 40 copies of the Deluxe edition, with an extra suite of 7 etchings with wide margins, housed in a larger folder, all signed in pencil by the artist. Justification page signed by the author and the artist. Maeght Publisher, Paris.

Publié en plusieurs langues, et par les Ed. Ceuleers & Van de Velde en langue anglaise en 2002, le Catalogue « Raisonnable » des « livres » de Pierre Alechinsky répertorie pas moins de 553 références. On y voit l’attachement de l’artiste à la chose écrite : livres certes - textes, poésie-, mais journaux, revues, plaquettes, manifestes, etc. Consacrée à la peinture, à l’estampe, la vie de Pierre Alechinsky aura également été consacrée au « livre ». On sait que peu d’artiste on une connaissance aussi fine du livre que Pierre Alechinsky et l’on a souvent dit que peu de peintres ont autant de plaisir à se rendre à l’imprimerie, livres et estampes encore. Gérard Macé écrit : « Alechinsky est un lecteur actif, mais ce qu’il ajoute entre les lignes, ou dans les marges, n’est pas forcement de l’ordre du commentaire ». Les éditeurs (Maeght, Pierre-André Benoit, Y. Rivière ou Fata Morgana, etc.), comme les auteurs (C. Dotremont, Mansour, Butor, Tardieu, Cioran et tant d’autres), accompagnent l’artiste avec bonheur.
