Biography of Frank Frank
The career of Frank Wright extends over four decades and encompasses not only painting and drawing (which he has taught for three decades at the Corcoran and George Washington University) but also the graphic arts.
He has lived in Italy (1956 -1958), in Florence. He got his diploma in art history at the Harvard Fogg Museum (1960-1961). An extended period of study in Paris intensified an omnipresent interest in art history, and particularly early master techniques in printmaking. From 1961 to 1964, Wright studied the art of engraving with burin with Stanley William Hayter at the well known Atelier 17 in Paris. Although Hayter's technique and use of the burin was contemporary in spirit, Hayter's knowledge and sensitivity were pivotal in Wright's progress.
Wright's work is always figurative with an emphasis on optical reality. By interlacing photographic informations with visual observation, he tried to re-introduce the unfashionable category of history painting with a special interest in Washington and the Civil War. His family, friends, and students always play a role in his work, whether in his paintings of daily life or in the invented scenes. Landscape painting is a strong interest in which he concentrates on the light of the seasons and times of the day. Much of his work was produced in Washington. Many of his paintings and prints are in public and private collections.

Artists on display
The art and the artists display: proclamations, galleries, museums, personal or collective exhibitions. On walls or in shop windows, wise or rebels, posters warn, argue, show. Some were specially conceived by an artist for such or such event, other, colder, have only the letter.
Some were created in lithographic technic, most are simple offset reproductions. They are many those who like collecting these rectangles of paper, monochrome or in games of colours, in matt paper or brilliant, with many words or almost dumb.
We are happy also to be able to greet, by this pages, mythical galleries as those of Denise René, Louis Carré, Claude Bernard, Berheim Jeune, Maeght, Pierre Loeb and others.
