Le catalogue raisonné de l’œuvre gravé d’Henri Goetz établi en 1977 par K. Masrour répertorie 280 références entre 1940 et 1977. Si l’on y découvre des lithographies et quelques sérigraphies, l’essentiel de l’œuvre graphique de l’artiste se compose de gravures, exécutées suivant toutes les champs possibles ouverts par ce domaine : pointes-sèches, burins, eaux-fortes, aquatintes, vermis mou, gravure sur plomb, linogravures, etc., et . . . carborundum. Cette dernière technique, découverte et mise au point par Henri Goetz au début de l’année 1968, rend l’artiste célèbre. Elle va être sa marque à partir de la fin des années 60 et ouvrira de nouvelles perspectives aux peintres-graveurs qui la font leur. Joan Miro et son incroyable créativité pousseront sans doute cette voie au-delà de son « inventeur ». Les Editions Maeght publieront un manuel dans lequel Goetz explique ses méthodes (Préface de Miro). Celles-ci seront adaptées, modifiées, parfois simplifiées par d’autres, donnant à chacun de nouvelles pistes de création.
