Biography of Inoue Kozo
Inoue Kozo was born in 1937 in Osaka (Japan). He graduated in Aesthetics and Art History from Keio University in 1960. The young man, that same year, goes to France to study Art , he will now share his time between his country of origin and France.
Little by little Inoue Kozo will find a style of expression of his own; he uses in his images simple patterns, with color gradients in the background.Despite, or perhaps because of their design in appearance simple, its silkscreen prints convey sophistication and a poetic sense of tranquility. Ordinary objects such as fruit, flowers and butterflies hang in space, creating a dreamlike world that intrigues and invites us to enter.
Very active, the artist obtained many solo exhibitions, mainly in France (Paris, Marseille, Bourges, Pau, etc.) and Japan, but also in the United States (New York, Houston, Chicago, etc.) and Europe (Switzerland, Sweden, Luxembourg, Italy, Germany, etc.). Likewise, Inoue Kozo will participate in many exhibitions and other collective exhibitions, obtaining several times awards.Important elements of his work are part of the collections of museums (Musée d'art moderne de la ville de Paris, Musée Carnavalet, Bibliothèque Royale de Belgique, B. N. de Paris, etc.).Very eclectic, we will note, in addition to his painted and engraved work, that the artist has made many murals, in France, as in Japan. Similarly, he participated, for example, in the edition of carpets, crystal objects (for Daum), scarves or tapestries. Inoue Kozo killed himself in Izu (Japan) in 2017, he was 80 years old.
