The artist joins the Figuration narrative movement, art movement emerged in France in the early 1960s in opposition to abstraction and New Realism, and he exhibits with the group (Monory, Rancillac, Schlosser, Erro, Segui, Adami, Klasen, Telemaque, Velickovic, Arroyo, Alain Jacquet, Fromanger, etc.). Jan Voss, in parallel to his painting, creates a graphic work. The artist reflects a daily reality by inventing stories containing characters and animals. His work moves away from narrative figuration. His later work, « Outlines » are saturated with black and watercolor lines. He superimposes everyday objects, animals, plants, men and women. In the early 80s, Jan Voss realizes small sculptures. The works of Jan Voss always fluctuate between several states, several possible interpretations.
