Le volume I du catalogue raisonné de l’œuvre gravé de Max Papart a été publié en Suède, pays où il obtint un très large succès, par les Editons Galerie International de Stockholm. L’ouvrage, présenté ici, concerne la création graphique de l’artiste pour la période 1968-1979. On trouvera, en début de catalogue, une note de l’éditeur en 3 langues (français, anglais et suédois) définissant brièvement toutes les techniques de l’estampe. Etabli par Michel Bohbot, le catalogue raisonné répertorie 236 oeuvres originales de l’artiste (estampes et sculptures) : lithographies et gravures pour l’essentiel - aquatintes, eaux-fortes, tailles douces, burins, gravures au carborundum -, editées en planches isolées ou dans le cadre du livre illustré ou du portefeuille. Une préface de l’auteur retrace le parcours de l’artiste et les grandes phases de son évolution d’homme et d’artiste ; il rend également hommage aux éditeurs importants de l’artiste et aux ateliers d’imprimeurs qui collaborèrent. En exergue au catalogue, Stig Johansson écrit : « Sans défaillance, je vois Max Papart apposer au coin de ses tableaux sa griffe de despote éclairé de la forme ».
