SCHOOL OF NICE

1965-1975

These artists look for intensity in their expression and no longer differentiate between figurative or abstract painting. They all share the common desire to represent the familiar utilitarian objects of daily life adorned with their intrinsic qualities without any intention of transforming them through any personal interpretation. They find unity and commonaliy of purpose in their credo “Do not create art”, or the artist is not an “art maker”. They just want to show the natural beauty of daily life and thus to transform each consumer into an artist.

Artists not in gallery : Jean-Claude Farhi, Robert Filliou, Roland Flexner, Serge III, Pierre Pinoncelli, etc.
