Aristide Maillol was born in 1861 in Banyuls-sur-Mer, France. He is 20 years old when he moves to Paris. After having taken drawing classes until 1885, he is admitted to the School of Fine Arts in Paris from1885-1893. Friend of Gauguin, he starts to sculpt in 1895.
