Biography of Ellsworth Kelly
Ellsworth Kelly is born in Newburgh (New York, USA) in 1923. His work is linked to the minimalist movement. He studies art in New York, Boston and Paris. The young artist moves to Paris between 1948 and 1954, he founds there the orientation of his art. Kelly uses painting as a design element, creating a set of links and relationships between shapes and colors that form a new visual balance. The work of the artist is moving rapidly up thhe largest abstract simplification. The painting of Ellsworth Kelly takes its full dimension with the space surrounding it. His first exhibition is organized in Paris (1951). Back in New York (1954-1969), he regularly exhibits in international famous museums (Museum of Modern Art in New York, Gallery of Modern Art in Washington, etc.). Kelly begins producing monumental sculptures and receives major public commissions; many exhibitions and retrospectives of his work consecrate Ellsworth Kelly, showing - in the United States and Europe - all facets of his creation (sculpture, prints, paintings).
Ellsworth Kelly died in December 2015; the artist was 92 years old.

Artists on display
The art and the artists display: proclamations, galleries, museums, personal or collective exhibitions. On walls or in shop windows, wise or rebels, posters warn, argue, show. Some were specially conceived by an artist for such or such event, other, colder, have only the letter.
Some were created in lithographic technic, most are simple offset reproductions. They are many those who like collecting these rectangles of paper, monochrome or in games of colours, in matt paper or brilliant, with many words or almost dumb.
We are happy also to be able to greet, by this pages, mythical galleries as those of Denise René, Louis Carré, Claude Bernard, Berheim Jeune, Maeght, Pierre Loeb and others.
