Biography of Gunther Förg
Günter Förg is born in Füssen (Germany) in 1952. He studies at the School of Fine Arts in Munich. If his first solo exhibition is held in 1974, his first exhibition in Munich takes place 6 years later (1980). The artist focuses his research in different directions, exploring alongside painting, graphic art, sculpture and photography. All these facets are used to feed the artist in his reflections on modernism. Günter Förg is in perpetual motion, insatiable seeker of form and composition, always in search of a refine art and clearness. Monochrome, color-field or reliefs- paintings, the artist creates abstract paintings. Günther Förg uses different media such as wood, cloth, lead, aluminum and fabric. The artist produces architectural photographs in black and white in which he highlights the inhumane inherent part of its mythologized habitats. In the 90s, Förg creates bronze masks and reinterprets the shapes of his paintings in a series of sculptures. Recently, Günther Förg uses abstract patterns to create watercolors with brilliant colors. His work has been exhibited in major museums including the Museum of Modern Art in Paris (1987) or the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (Queen Sofia Art Center)(Madrid, 1991). He lives and works in Füssen.

Artists on display
The art and the artists display: proclamations, galleries, museums, personal or collective exhibitions. On walls or in shop windows, wise or rebels, posters warn, argue, show. Some were specially conceived by an artist for such or such event, other, colder, have only the letter.
Some were created in lithographic technic, most are simple offset reproductions. They are many those who like collecting these rectangles of paper, monochrome or in games of colours, in matt paper or brilliant, with many words or almost dumb.
We are happy also to be able to greet, by this pages, mythical galleries as those of Denise René, Louis Carré, Claude Bernard, Berheim Jeune, Maeght, Pierre Loeb and others.
