The Swiss painter Hans Erni was born in Lucerne in 1909. He collaborates with an architect before beginning his art studies, in 1927, at the School of Art and Crafts in Lucerne. As a result he becomes a student at the Julian Academy in Paris, then at the School of Applied Arts in Berlin in 1930. In Paris, he meets Jean Arp, Mondrian, Brancusi, Calder, Henry Moore and others.
