Biography of John Baldessari
John Baldessari was born in 1931 in National City (California, USA). He studied at the Otis Art Institute and the Chouinard Art Institute. He began to develop his own style of painting very early on, incorporating letters, words and photographs into his work. He is a conceptual artist, representative of the post-modernist movement. He will first make narrative paintings and photographs captioned in reference to the history of art (the "Damn Allegories"). At the end of the 1960s, Baldessari made experimental films and videos. From 1980, he devoted himself to the realization of paintings made up of photographs and cinematographic images that he collected, reframed and colored (images from television, cinema, official images). Since 2000, the artist has added paintings to his photo-collages. John Baldessari wishes to create a shock by assembling his images. He likes to explore the different photographic formats by diverting them from their formal use. Since the early 2000s, Baldessari has received numerous international awards. He now lives and works in Santa Monica (California, USA).

Artists on display
The art and the artists display: proclamations, galleries, museums, personal or collective exhibitions. On walls or in shop windows, wise or rebels, posters warn, argue, show. Some were specially conceived by an artist for such or such event, other, colder, have only the letter.
Some were created in lithographic technic, most are simple offset reproductions. They are many those who like collecting these rectangles of paper, monochrome or in games of colours, in matt paper or brilliant, with many words or almost dumb.
We are happy also to be able to greet, by this pages, mythical galleries as those of Denise René, Louis Carré, Claude Bernard, Berheim Jeune, Maeght, Pierre Loeb and others.
