Biography of Mario Nigro
Mario Nigro is born in Pistoia (Italy) in 1917. In 1949, his first solo exhibition is held in the Salto Library in Milan. With the cycle of "Ritmi continui simultanei" and that of "a Pannelli une Scacchi," the artist goes beyond the standards of concrete art. The work of Mario Nigro immediately receives international recognition and is invited to exhibit in the Salon of New Realities in Paris in 1951 and 1952. The artist realizes his early work of the cycle "Spazio totale", work that are presented to the del Fiore Gallery, where the Italian group's MAC (Movement of Concrete Art) merges with the French group Space. In 1957, Michael Seuphor invites Nigro to participate in the exhibition "50 years of abstract art" at the Creuze Galerie (Paris). The artist moves to Milan in 1958 and decides to devote himself entirely to painting. Many exhibitions are held in his name from the early 60s (Lausanne, Venice, Milan, etc.). One room is devoted to him at his Italian Pavilion of the Venice Biennial in 1968. Between 1965 and 1975, Mario Nigro reconsiders the cycle "Spazio totale", creates the series "Collages vibratili", the cycles "Tempo totale", then "Strutture fisse con licenza cromatica"; he engages in works related to the environment. Mario Nigro never ceases to try and create; going from cycle to cycle of new creations ("Meditations" and "Strutture" are his last two lines of research). The artist dies in 1992 in Livorno.

Artists on display
The art and the artists display: proclamations, galleries, museums, personal or collective exhibitions. On walls or in shop windows, wise or rebels, posters warn, argue, show. Some were specially conceived by an artist for such or such event, other, colder, have only the letter.
Some were created in lithographic technic, most are simple offset reproductions. They are many those who like collecting these rectangles of paper, monochrome or in games of colours, in matt paper or brilliant, with many words or almost dumb.
We are happy also to be able to greet, by this pages, mythical galleries as those of Denise René, Louis Carré, Claude Bernard, Berheim Jeune, Maeght, Pierre Loeb and others.
