Roger Bissiere

Roger Bissiere was born in 1886 in Villeréal (Lot-et-Garonne, France). He was 17 years old when he began painting-by instinct. From 1905 until 1910, Bissiere studied to the Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux. Then he went to Paris and was a pupil of H. Gabriel Ferrier. From 1912, he worked as a journalist and hold account-returned exposures for the Parisian weekly magazine “

Stamp by Roger Bissiere
The publication of a postal stamp is often a homage paid by a nation to a place, an event, a remarkable cause or a character which count. The painters and other artists do not escape from this rule. Some are however "forgotten" of postal art. Here, gathered below (French or foreign), emitted stamps (206) or simple studies of stamp (224) in homage to the artists represented on our website. The first French stamp was emitted in 1849, England preceded us by ten years. There is often a share of voyage in this small form of shape paper. The stamp circulates, sails, flies away, it makes dream, then dream a little. M.C.
When the stamp is really emitted, the artist name is preceded of an asterisk (*). It is certain that we do not know each stamp emitted for such or such artist; do not hesitate with us to make known them!

A tribute to Roger Bissiere

Roger Bissière quitte Paris en 1939 pour s’installer dans l’ancien presbytère qu’il a hérité de sa mère, à Boissierette dans le Lot. C’est là que, vingt cinq ans plus tard, l’artiste s’éteint le 2 décembre 1964. Auprès de sa compagne de vie, il repose dans le calme jardin de cette propriété familiale. Il y a là les bois, l’étang, les près, une petite église magnifiquement décorée, les sculptures de son fils, Louttre B., un atelier, une presse, une croix en pierre pour vous accueillir (voir partie de l’image) et la beauté partout. Avec respect, en son hommage, une rose.
