Biography of Bruno Rousselot
Bruno Rousselot is born in Joinville in 1957. Painter of geometric abstraction, he settles in 1987 - and for ten years - in New York (Brooklyn), working in the wake of Barnett Newman or Ad Reinhardt. Marked by his meeting with Sol LeWitt, Bruno Rousselot retains the desire to develop a sensitive geometry where the colored surface plays a preponderant role. The artist, under the regularity and apparent immobility, experiments imbalance. Bruno Rousselot instructs the terms of a geometric abstraction based on the subtle relations between colors and light. After several American exhibitions, his workk is regularly exhibited in France since his first solo exhibition in 1995 at the Art Center of Vassiviere (Limousin). The artist works in series, the composition declines itself in infinities variations, the shapes slipping slightly, barely touching, the space opening or tightening in a systematic game where a personal geometry full of harmony plays, being both an inside and outside game. Since 2003, Bruno Rousselot teaches drawing at the National School of Arts in Dijon. He lives in Châtillon sur Loire since 1997.
